Lewis & Clark Lake

Fishing Report 1/23/24

It's time to finaly hit the ice! This weeks past artic blast finaly provided some good ice making conditions and now Lewis and Clark has a good 8"+ of Ice across the river. It is a river however which means its always changing so proceed with caution. There are some perch and crappie in the SD marina to be caught and the walleye are biting in the deeper holes found off the main river channel. Wherever you left the fish in late fall, they are still there. Anywhere from 30'-40'fow produced some keeper walleyes as well as some dinks. Hard to beat a jig and minnow but flutter spoons tipped with minnow head are working as well. look to downsize into some waxies or small minnows if chasing the perch and crappie. Captain norms has all the bait you will need and the best bite is early moring and evening.

Sounds like a good time. 👍

Fishing Report 11/21/23

Open water reports are a wrap for 2023. The cold temps are here to stay it looks like and ice will be forming soon. The river usually takes a bit longer so most likely late December for anyting to report on the river. With all the nice the perch we caught this fall I'm looking forward to ice fishing on Lewis and Clark and typically the SD marina will hold some of these fish. If you dare to risk it out on Walkers there will definitely be some nice walleye to target in the deeper water as well. We will keep you posted.

Brian you have referred to Walkers before. Where is that located?

Fishing Report 10-18-2023

Fall fishing is on fire! Walleye and just about anything else you can set a hook into is on the chomp. Water temps are still in the upper 50's meaing that this will continue for a while and only get better with more big fish coming to the boat. A jig and minnow is always a good go to in the fall and it's producing fish when fisher vertically in the 15-25'fow and near or around structure. The face of the dam is holding lots of fish just inside the river channel edge. Along the SD side of the lake is producing lots of walleye but a bit smaller than the NE side of the lake. Trolling leadcore with large crankbaits along the river channel edge is working best in front of the beaches on the SD and from Wiegand to Walkers on the NE side. Look for some…

The fall bite is still not in full swing as the water temps are still haning around the low 70's. Once these shorter days settle in the water will begin to cool down the fall bite will start to pick up. Right now the walleye are feeding on young of the year shad and drum so crankbaits are working best along the old river channels from Boyscout camp to Walkers and along the SD side along the beaches in 20-30'fow. Flicker shads, Rummble shads and Salmos #5 are all working well trolled behind leadcore. There is still alot of fish in the chutes in the 3-8'fow and dragging jigs and rigs with crawlers is putting numbers in the boat. Lots of little fish to filter through by grind it out and you will get your limit on most days. But the big fish are more likely found in the chann…

At what water temperature do you see the bite pick up on the East end of lake? From my limited experience, seems mid 50's and getting better as moves into 40's.
