Fishing Reports
Lake Francis Case 5/22/2026
• The spring bite is finally here with fish showing up all over the system. Look for shallow flats near where the channel bends near the shore. Walleye will be roaming on these warm water flats chasing bait as well as tight to the steep bluffs. Pitching jigs up to the bluffs can be very effective. Also pulling bottom bouncers with spinners or slowedeath rigs and crawlers is hard to beat. Trolling small crank baits across these flats is a great way to cover water fast to find active fish. You can put a lot of fish in the boat very fast while trolling this time of year.
Lewis and Clark Lake 5/22/2026
• The lake bite is starting to pick up with water temp warming slowly. The fish are done spewing in the lake but there are still a few straglers up river. The numbers and the health of the fish in the lake looks excellent so expecting good things this spring. They walleye are staged near their typically spring locations and the bite is on fire. Shorelines and flats, and humps are the ticket for these spring walleye until the water temps get into the 70's. Trolling cranks such as Mondy Badgers, Salmo Hornets and Flicker Shads are the ticket. Pitching jigs to the shore lines can produce epic days when the weather is coporating.
