Ice came early this year on the river and the bite has been excellent. Most anglers are fishing near the HWY 44 bridge at Burinakes but fish can be found all over the river right now. Targeting that 25-30'fow on the channel break. The further down river the better the ice usually. With the water being nearly 20' low you can drive down to waters edge in most places and its a very short walk out to be in the channel. Northland tackle buckshot rattle spoons, glow jigs on a dead stick and just plain hooks with minnows or minnow heads are working best. If fishing in the platte area (Gregory Co.) you have to keep the first 4 walleye/sauger you catch and some day's that doesn't take long. Get your 2022 season kicked off right with a good trip to the river on the ice and enjoy the day as the fishing is good.
